History
Melbourne Business School began in 1956, when the University of Melbourne offered Australia’s first residential executive program in the summer of that year. The first Master of Business Administration (MBA) program began in 1963. During the 1980s, MBS was awarded the status of a National Management School by the Australian Government.
Since then, the School has continued to diversify its offering, adding the Executive MBA, Postgraduate Diploma in Management, Master of Marketing to its portfolio along with qualifications in leadership and innovation. The Master of Marketing program began in 1994.
In 2004, Melbourne Business School merged with Mt Eliza Business School making MBS the largest management education business school in Australia. The Mt Eliza Centre for Executive Education is recognised as a pioneer in the use of applied general management techniques and action learning methodologies.
